Bangladesh hockey team earn second successive victory
Beat Uzbekistan by 4-2 goals

Bangladesh earned its second consecutive victory in Pool A match of the 12-nation 19th Asian Games Men's Hockey, beating Uzbekistan by 4-2 goals at the Gongshu Canal Sports Park Stadium in Hangzhou on Saturday, report agencies.
Earlier, Bangladesh beat Singapore by 7-3 goals in the previous match last Thursday after suffering two consecutive defeats in the first two matches.
Earlier, Bangladesh suffered a 2-7 goal defeat against defending champions Japan in the first match and conceded a 2-5 goal defeat against eight-time Asian Games champions Pakistan in the second match.
Bangladesh, which was placed in six-team Pool A of the Asiad Hockey with India, Japan, Pakistan, Singapore, and Uzbekistan, will play group leader India on Monday in remaining Pool A match.
After the match, arch-rivals India and Pakistan secured a full nine points from three straight matches to brighten their semifinal berth from Pool A, while Japan also bagged nine points from four matches.
Bangladesh is in the fourth slot with four points, playing four matches, while Uzbekistan and Singapore are at the bottom without any points, also playing four matches.
The day's match was locked in 2-2 goals in the first half.
Ashraful Islam put Bangladesh ahead in the 10th minute from a penalty corner (1-0).
Ruslan Karimov levelled the margin for Uzbekistan in the 17th minute (1-1). Arshad Hossain again put Bangladesh ahead in the 21st minute, while Janibek neutralised the margin for Uzbekistan in the 26th minute to lock the first half (2-2).
Ashraful Islam scored his second and third goal for Bangladesh in the 42nd minute from a penalty stroke (3-2). Amirul Islam sealed the fate of the match by scoring the fourth goal for Bangladesh in the 52nd minute from a penalty corner (4-2).
In another event, Bangladesh's weightlifter Smrity Akter became the first in the 'B' group in the women's 55 kg weight category on the first day, lifting 160 kg. Four people participated in this group held at the Xiaoshan Sports Centre Gymnasium.
She lifted a maximum of 72 kg in snatch and 88 kg in clean and jerk. The medals will be finalized based on the performance of the 'A' group.
In Shooting event, Bangladesh finished 14th in the 10m air pistol mixed event on the eighth day with two shooters, Shakil Ahmed and Anjila Amzad Antur scored 562.
India won the gold by scoring 577 and China bagged the silver while Iran secured the bronze medal in this event Bangladesh's Shakil scored 280 while Anjila scored 282.
Meanwhile, at the end of the third round, Bangladesh's Siddiqur Rahman placed at number 21 position. Siddiqur played two shots under par in the third round held at West Lakes International Golf Course on Saturday. The ace golfer played 207 shots in three rounds. Altogether, Siddiqur played nine shots less than Par. Another Bangladeshi golfer, Jamal Hossain, is playing two shots more than par and placed at number 39 position.
