Bangladesh in Group A in SA Games soccer draw

Bangladesh was drawn in Group A along with Maldives, Nepal and Bhutan when the draw of the South Asian Games football was held at a city hotel, reports BSS.
Though the draw was held today and with only a month away from the SA Games in Bangladesh from January 29, the football ruling body Bangladesh Football Federation, are yet to finalise the coach and even they are yet to select the national squad.
The draw was held in a brief ceremony with Bangladesh and holder Pakistan ranked as the top seeds and assured to be placed in separate groups.
Bangladesh was drawn in Group A while Pakistan went to Group B.
Maldives and India were ranked second and was drawn in A and B respectively.
Nepal and Sri Lanka were ranked third and Nepal was drawn in Group A while Sri Lanka went to Group B.
Bhutan and Afghanistan the fourth ranked teams got group A and B respectively.
Bangladesh will open their campaign against Nepal on January 30 on the inaugural day of the Games football competition, faces Bhutan on February 1st and play against Maldives on February 3rd.
Bangladesh booters had a miserable time in the last 10th SA Games at Colombo in 2006 where they failed to go past the first round. SA Games Groupings: Group A: Bangladesh, Maldives, Nepal and Bhutan. Group B: Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan.
BFF in a bid to add some glamour to draw ceremony invited telivision personality Opi Karim and famous advertisement star Nobel. Besides Chef-de- mission of Bangladesh team Mizanur Rahman Manu, Vice presidents of BFF Kazi Nabil Ahmed, Manzoor Hossain Malu and Showkat Ali Jahangir were present on the occasion.
