Bangladesh in tough group of Asia Cup Hockey

Bangladesh has been placed in a tough group of Asia Cup Hockey to be held May 9 to May 19 in Malaysia, reports UNB.
Bangladesh has been placed in group with India, Pakistan and China, while the other group consists of Korea, Japan, Oman and hosts Malaysia, Bangladesh team Manager Anvir Adil Khan said Thursday.
He said that twenty players are now practising in a residential camp and a 16-member final squad for the meet would be announced in the last week of the current month.
"Although we have to face strong teams, but we hope to finish at least 7th in the tournament," Anvir said.
He said, "We will try to beat Oman, a comparatively weak team… we will also try to play competitive hockey with the other contesting teams."
Bangladesh finished 8th in the last Asia Cup Hockey.
Anvir informed that after a three-day short vacation, German coaching director Rach Gerhard Peter and team coach Oliver Michael would join the camp today (Friday) to take charge of the team until the Asia Cup Hockey.
