Bangladesh-India talks from today

The three-day 15th Home Secretary-level meeting between Bangladesh and India begins in the city on Tuesday. As part of it, the day-long 14th meeting of joint working group will be held at Hotel Sonargaon today. Additional Secretary of the Home Ministry Dr Kamal Uddin Ahmed and Joint Secretary of Home Affairs Ministry of India Shamvu Singh will lead the delegations of their countries respectively. The Home Secretary-level meeting between the two countries will be held at the same venue on Wednesday. It will be the first Home Secretary-level meeting between the two countries after assumption of office by the BJP-led new government in India. Detailed discussion on important matters relating to Home Ministry including cross-border smuggling, illegal intrusion, reduction of tension in the frontiers, solution to demarcation of borders, stopping of trafficking of drugs and fake currencies would feature at the meeting and decisions regarding the issues would be adopted. Senior Secretary of the Home Ministry Dr Md Mozammel Huq Khan will lead the 13-member Bangladesh delegation while Central Home Secretary Anil Goshwamy will lead the 13-member delegation of India at the meeting. The Indian delegation under the leadership of Central Home Secretary will pay a visit to Sardah Police Academy in Rajshahi on September 4, according to a news agency.
