Bangladesh lose 4-0 to India in SAFF U-19 Women's Championship

Sunday, 8 February 2026

Bangladesh suffered a 4-0 defeat to India in the final of the SAFF U-19 Women's Championship at the Pokhara Rangasala Stadium in Pokhara, Nepal on Saturday, reports BSS.
Although Bangladesh dominated the group stage, the final proved to be a different story. Despite scoring 18 goals in their last three group matches, Bangladesh failed to find the net in the one-sided final.
With the win, India retained the SAFF title after two years and avenged their 0-2 loss to Bangladesh earlier in the group stage.
The Blue Tigresses, who played controlled and well-planned football throughout the match, took the lead in the 42nd minute following a defensive error by Bangladesh.
Captain Julan Mongmaithem gave India a deserved lead with a right-footed shot from close range after receiving a pass from Pritika Barman. Bangladesh goalkeeper Yearzan Begum could not react in time.
After the break, India continued to create scoring opportunities and doubled their lead in the 63rd minute from a penalty. Substitute Protima Munda fouled India's Alva Devi Sanjam inside the box, and the referee immediately pointed to the spot. Elijaved Lakra made no mistake in converting the penalty.
