Bangladesh-madelaptop Doel to be unveiled today

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina would inaugurate the first-ever Bangladesh-made laptop this (Tuesday) morning. The inaugural function will be held at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre at 10:30 am. The laptop branded as "Doel" with four different models priced at Tk 10,000, Tk 13,500, Tk 22,000 and Tk 26,000 is made by the state-run Telephone Shilpa Sangstha (TSS) in collaboration with 2M Corporation Ltd, Dhaka and TFT Technology, Penang, Malaysia. A telecommunication ministry official said the date for marketing of the laptop has not been fixed. - UNB
No CCTV camera in
parlour rooms: HC
The High Court has ordered removal of close-circuit TV (CCTV) cameras from the service rooms of all beauty parlours, both for men and women, in the country. A bench of justices Farid Ahmed and Sheikh Hassan Arif ordered the government Monday to take out all such cameras following a writ-petition filed earlier in the day by Bangladesh Human Rights Foundation chief executive Elina Khan. The petition follows the recent CCTV scandal relating the Banani branch of Persona beauty parlour in the capital.
