Bangladesh mission in UN observes Amar Ekushey

The Permanent Mission of Bangladesh to the United Nations (UN) in New York has observed the Language Martyrs Day and International Mother Language Day.
Bangladesh representative to the UN mission Dr AK Abdul Momen paid homage to the Language Movement martyrs by placing wreaths at the Shaheed Minar, set up in the mission, one minute past zero hours.
Foreign Secretary M Shahidul Haque, now in New York, also paid homage to the martyrs Friday.
Abdul Momen thanked UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon for issuing message for the first time in observance of the day which is globally being observed as the International Mother Language Day as declared by Unesco, according to a news agency.
