Bangladesh must get its acts together

Saturday, 1 March 2014

In the second match of Asia Cup, only two cricketers of Bangladesh, Captain Mushfiqur Rahim and the opener Anamul Haque, made remarkable progress. They played delightful innings.
Mushfiqur scored 117 runs with the help of seven boundaries and two sixes while Anamul scored 77 runs with the help of five boundaries and three sixes.  The score of the rest of the batsmen were not so good. As a result, Bangladesh scored 279 runs for seven wickets in 50 overs.
No doubt India is still a world class cricket team even without Mahendra Singh Dhoni. However, India had to play 49 overs to get the victory. India scored 280 for four wickets. It was the century day for the captains of both the teams. Kohli scored 136 runs with the help of 16 boundaries and two sixes.
There were some miracles in Bangladesh's bowling line at the beginning and the end of the match. India lost the two opening wickets within only 54 runs. It was not possible to take the third wicket for Bangladeshi bowlers until 267 runs. By the time, India reached near victory. Bangladesh still has some way to go and it must rise up to the occasion.
