Bangladesh name squad for lone Test against Zimbabwe

Friday, 12 June 2026

Bangladesh have announced a largely revamped squad for the one-off Test against Zimbabwe, handing a maiden call-up to pace-bowling all-rounder Robiul Haque while recalling middle-order batter Towhid Hridoy for only his second stint in the Test setup, reports BSS.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) unveiled the squad today for the lone Test of the multi-format tour of Zimbabwe, scheduled to begin on June 28 at Harare Sports Club.
The selectors rested several key players, including Test vice-captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz and frontline pacers Taskin Ahmed, Nahid Rana and Shoriful Islam, as part of workload management plans.
Pacer Hasan Mahmud returned to the squad after missing the recent Test series against Pakistan due to injury. Khaled Ahmed also earned a recall after impressing in domestic first-class cricket, having been left out of the Pakistan series because of team combination considerations.
The inclusion of Robiul Haque marks the biggest surprise in the squad, with the pace-bowling all-rounder receiving his first Test call-up.
With Miraz rested, Bangladesh's spin department will be led by Taijul Islam and Nayeem Hasan, while the pace attack will feature Hasan Mahmud, Khaled Ahmed, Ebadot Hossain and debutant Rabiul Haque.
The batting unit remains largely unchanged from recent assignments. Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto will lead a group that includes Shadman Islam, Mahmudul Hasan Joy, Tamim, Mominul Haque, Mushfiqur Rahim and Litton Das, with Towhid Hridoy added as an extra middle-order option.
Bangladesh will begin their Zimbabwe tour with the solitary Test before playing three ODIs and as many T20 Internationals.
The Test match will be played at Harare Sports Club from June 28.
Test Squad: Najmul Hossain Shanto (Captain), Shadman Islam, Mahmudul Hasan Joy, Tanzid Hasan, Mominul Haque Showrab, Mushfiqur Rahim, Litton Kumer Das, Taijul Islam, Nayeem Hasan, Syed Khaled Ahmed, Ebadot Hossain Chowdhury, Hasan Mahmud, Tawhid Hridoy, Amite Hasan, Robiul Haque.
