Bangladesh opens hotlines after Makkah tragedy

Bangladesh missions and Hajj office in Saudi Arabia have opened hotlines to assist the pilgrims and expatriate workers following the fatal crane crash at the Grand Mosque.
At least 107 pilgrims died and 238 more, including 40 Bangladeshis, were wounded when a crane crashed into the Masjid al Haram late last week.
The foreign ministry said Bangladeshis were injured mostly in a stampede that followed the crash.
Many of them were released from the hospital, none of them in critical condition now, it said in a statement.
Bangladesh embassy in Riyadh, Consulate General in Jeddah and Hajj Office in Makkah were “constantly vigilant” to address any concerns immediately.
