Bangladesh-origin journo honoured in Canada

Rafique Bhuiyan, a Bangladesh-origin Canadian, has been honoured by the Press and Media Council of Canada with Recognition Award for Best Editorial Content and Visual Presentation, said a press release.
Mr Bhuiyan is the chief editor of the Weekly Jogajog published in Canada.
Press and Media Council of Canada on October 28 handed over a crest and certificate to Mr Bhuiyan through a function at the Office of Lieutenant Governor General situated in main Parliament Building of Ontario Queen's Park.
Mr Bhuiyan has been honoured for his outstanding achievements and distinguished contributions to cultural activities, community service and efforts in promoting tolerance along with the traditions and interests of the Bengali-Canadian community.
The certificate says that his leadership, courage and dedication to the causes of social justice, human rights and democracy have greatly contributed to the generation of respect for cultural values and the pursuit of equality among all Canadians.
Mr Bhuiyan is the eldest son of late Sirajul Islam and Shamsun Nahar Begum. His father was a senior teacher of Madhabdi SP Institution.
Mr Bhuiyan hails from Madhabdi under Narsingdi district.
