Thursday, 10 October 2019

Bangladesh National Football team will play their home match of the joint Qualification (Round-1) of the FIFA World Cup 2022 and AFC Asian Cup 2023 against upper-ranked Qatar at the Bangabandhu National Stadium (BNS) today (Thursday), reports UNB.
The match that will kick-off at 7 pm (BdST) will be live telecasted on BTV and Bangla TV.
In their next match, Bangladesh will meet the neighboring India in the away match on October 15 at Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata.
Bangladeshi booters made a two-week training camp including two friendly matches against Bhutan as a part of their preparation.
The men in red and green beat the Himalayans by 4-1 goals in the first match on September 29 and 2-0 goals in the 2nd and last match on October 03, both at BNS.
In a pre-match press-conference on Wednesday at Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) office in Motijheel, Bangladesh Head Coach Jamie Day said they have made a good preparation and will play their best tomorrow to get a good result.
After asking about their plans, Jamie replied, "The match will be hard as Qatar are Asian champions, they have some very good players. We have worked on how to stop them and will try to capitalise on their weaknesses. In football, there are always surprise results. For us, we have to play extremely well, better than we performed recently."
Bangladesh captain Jamal Bhuiyan said, "Qatar are number one team in Asia. We have to take our chances tomorrow. If we get the chances to shoot, we will definitely do that. We have to be better in front of the goals. We got opportunity to score against Afghanistan but we missed. Scoring against Qatar is my dream."
On the other hand, Qatar Head Coach Felix Sanchez said, "We are prepared as usual. We are trying to recover our players from the last matches in the clubs to keep them altogether. Let hope to have a condition and good weather to play for our game."
Qatar's key player and striker Ali Hassan Afif Yahya said, "Everyone knows it is a game of World Cup Qualification. I believe there are no small team and big team. We came here with our strategy and good preparations. We are not satisfied with the result against India."
