A poetry organization named Bangladesh Poetry Council (Bangladesh Kobita Sangsad) has been formed with Poet Ershad Mazumder as President and Poet Shaheen Reza as General Secretary at a meeting held recently at National Press Club, says a release.
Among others, poet Al-Mujahidi was elected senior vice president, poets Mashuk Chowdhury, KG Mostafa, Abu Saleh, Musharraf Karim and Zahangir Firoz vice-presidents, Ferdous Salam, Rafiq Hasan, Chowdhury Ferdous, Quamruzzaman, Jamal Uddin Baree and Zakir Abu Zafar joint secretaries and Musarraf Khokon as organizing secretary.
Poet Al Mahmud was made the chief adviser.
The newly-floated organization will work to protect and highlight the history and heritage of Bangla poetry aiming at flourishing the core segment of Bangla literature.
