Bangladesh put in Group C with Vietnam, Yemen, Singapore

Bangladesh has been placed in four-team Group C of the AFC U-23 Asian Cup Saudi Arabia' 2026 Qualifiers with former runners-up Vietnam, Yemen and Singapore, reports UNB.
The grouping and fixture of the qualifying round of the AFC U-23 Asian Cup was held at the AFC House in the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur on Thursday.
All the group matches will be held during September 01 to 09 with Group C matches in Vietnam.
In Group C matches, Bangladesh will play hosts Vietnam on September 01, will face Yemen on Sept 6 and Singapore on Sept 9.
Forty four Asian teams, split into eleven groups, will compete in the meet.
Later, eleven group champion teams, four best group runners-up and hosts Saudi Arabia will play in the 16-team final round to be held in Saudi Arabia January next year.
Bangladesh was eliminated from the first round of the last meet losing all the three matches.
Bangladesh suffered 0-2 goals defeat against Malaysia, conceded 0-3 goals defeat against Thailand and handed 0-1 defeat against the Philippines in the last meet.
Aminul Islam, Bangladesh's first Test centurion who is currently working with the ICC in Melbourne, has emerged as the frontrunner to replace Faruque.
