Bangladesh Rifles clinch Nat'l Men's Handball title

Bangladesh Rifles clinched the Exim Bank 20th National Men's Handball title beating Bangladesh Police by 40-33 goals in the final on the Handball Stadium in the city Wednesday, reports UNB.
This was the 19th national crown - 15th in a row - for Bangladesh Rifles out of the 20 national meets since its inception in 1984.
In the day's final, the winners led the first half 23-14. Kamrul scored 10, Kamel 8 and Khairuzzaman 7 for the winners while Mohan netted 10, Mahbubul 8 and Russell 6 for the losers.
Mahbubul Alam of Bangladesh Police was named the best player of the tournament.
Chittagong Metropolis finished third in the meet beating Rajshahi DSA by 21-13 goals after leading the first half 18-10 at the same venue in the morning.
Rabiul Islam Robi of Rajshahi DSA retired from the game today after his 15-year colorful playing career.
Industries Minister Dilip Barua was the chief guest in the day's final and distributed the prizes at a function, chaired by Bangladesh Handball Federation President AKM Nurul Fazal Bulbul.
