Bangladesh-S Africa 1st T20I Sunday at Mirpur

Thursday, 2 July 2015

The first of the two Twenty20 international matches between Bangladesh and South Africa will be played at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium at Mirpur in Dhaka on Sunday (July 5). It will be a day/night match. Bangladesh recalled off-spinner Sohag Gazi for the two-match T20I series. This is the first call by the national selectors for Sohag Gazi since his bowling action was cleared by the ICC in February this year. Rubel Hossain and Jubair Hossain have also been included in the team. Gazi, Jubair and Rubel replaced Mahmudullah, Taskin Ahmed and Abul Hasan who were part of Bangladesh’s last T20 squad, against Pakistan in April this year. Gazi’s last international match was in August last year, before he was suspended for an illegal action in October. He played most of the 2014-2015 domestic seasons, taking 37 wickets at an average of 37.94 in nine first-class matches. Bangladesh’s chief selector Faruque Ahmed said,” Gazi was picked to fill the role of a specialist off-spinner in the side.” The second match will be played on July 7, also at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium at Mirpur.
Bangladesh T20I squad: Masrafe Bin Mortaza (Captain), Tamim lqbal, Litton Kumar Das, Rony Talukdar, Soumya Sarker, Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, Shabbir Rahaman, Nasir Hossain, Arafat Sunny, Zubaer Hossain, Shohag Gazi, Rubel Hossain and Mustafizur Rahman, according to a news agency.
