Bangladesh-S Africa T20 starts at 1pm

Sunday, 5 July 2015

The Prime Minister has urged the Bangladesh national cricket team to give their best performance on Sunday to win the opening game of the two-match Twenty20 international series against South Africa. Bangladesh will play two T20s, three one-day internationals (ODI) and two Test matches against the visitors. The first T20 will be held at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium at Mirpur in Dhaka on Sunday afternoon. The 20-over-a-side is scheduled to begin at 1:00pm. Urging the Tigers to play sincerely against the South African team, Hasina mentioned that Bangladesh have proved their might against top teams and risen to new highs in cricket as well as in other areas. In the field it is the only job of the players to show their respective skill and efficiency, she said. She asked the cricketers to always keep in mind that Bangladesh is a nation which earned victory through long struggle and war. "You’ll have to remember we’re the nation of winners, we have to keep our head high…we attained our victory in 1971 through Liberation War," she mentioned. "The county's prestige and honour is at your hand. But I don’t want to put you under mental pressure…there’s always win and loss in games, but you have to play your best, that’s it," added the PM, according to a news agency.
