Bangladesh signs Trans-Asian Railway Network agreement

Bangladesh signed an "Intergovernmental Agreement on the Trans-Asian Railway Network" Friday at the UN Headquarters in New York. Bangladesh Permanent Representative to the United Nations Ismat Jahan signed the agreement on behalf of Bangladesh government. The Trans-Asian Railway Network Agreement is a project of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) to create a transcontinental railway network across Europe and Asia. Initially, 18 countries signed the agreement on November 10 last year in Jakarta. Bangladesh is the 20th signatory to the agreement. — UNB
