Bangladesh national football team conceded a 0-2 defeat against top ranking Syria in their first match in the five-nation 13th ONGC Nehru Cup Football tournament Saturday, reports UNB.
After a barren first half, Syria scored twice in the 48th and 79th minutes of the match played at the floodlit Ambedkar Stadium in New Delhi Saturday evening.
In the remaining league basis matches, Bangladesh will play hosts India on Aug 20, Cambodia on Aug 22 and Kyrgystan on Aug 24, all at 7:30pm (Bangladesh time).
Indian satellite TV channel Zee Sports telecast the match live like the other matches of the tournament that began Friday in New Delhi with hosts India making a flying start outplaying Cambodia by massive 6-0 goals.
Earlier, a 20-member Bangladesh national football team, led by stopper Kazi Nazrul Islam, reached New Delhi Thursday.
