Thursday, 3 March 2011

A teachers' organisation titled Bangladesh Swad-hinata Shikkhak Parisad has been floated in a bid to promote the standard of education, nationalising the country's education system and to ensure rights and dignity of teachers. A seven-member convening committee and a 153-member steering committee were formed (in a meeting at National Press Club with NAEM DG Prof Shamsur Rahman in the chair) in this connection with Prof Dr Abdul Mannan Choudhury, vice-chancellor of World University of Bangladesh, as the convener Tuesday, said a press statement. Teachers of all academic institutions from primary to university levels (including madrasahs)- both government and private, will be members of this organisation. The teachers' platform will play its role in patronising practical and productive education, realising the rights of teachers, producing skilled human resources and teaching the new generation the actual history of liberation war. The front of pro-liberation war teachers will also work for materialising the dream of father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to build a Sonar Bangla.
