Bangladesh Tea Association holds 47th AGM

The 47th annual general meeting (AGM) of 'Bangladeshiyo Cha Sangsad' - Bangladesh Tea Association (BTA), the only representative organisation of the owners of the country's tea gardens, was held at Agrabad in Chittagong recently.
BTA Senior Vice-Chairman Mohd Safwan Choudhury chaired the meeting in absence of the association's Chairman M Salman Ispahani, who could not be present on the occasion due to some unavoidable reasons.
BTA committee members Ardashir Kabir, SS Iftekhar Ahmed, M Shah Alam, Md Nurul Alam, SK Anam and Morshedul Alam Quaderi along with the representatives of the member tea companies and estates were present in the meeting.
Safwan Choudhury presented a report on the major activities of the committee of the association for 2006-2007 at the AGM. BTA's accounts for the year ended on December 31, 2006 were approved, and auditors to audit its accounts for 2007 were also appointed in the meeting.
He expressed thanks and gratitude to different ministries, divisions, departments of the government, Bangladesh Tea Board, divisional and district administration, law-enforcing agencies of Chittagong and Sylhet divisions for their continued support, help and cooperation for the development of the country's tea industry.
He also thanked the members of the association for extending help, cooperation and advice for ensuring its smooth operation.
