\\\'Bangladesh to be developed country by 2040\\\'

The central bank governor has said that Bangladesh will be a middle income country by 2021, a higher middle income by 2030 and a developed nation by 2040, if it can continue with the regional connectivity like Europe. The Bangladesh Bank governor further said that the country could have achieved 7 per cent GDP if there was no tough agitation programmes like hartals and blockade. Dr Atiur Rahman came up with the view while addressing a programme in Munshiganj. He also predicted that the amount of foreign currency reserve would reach USD 25 million (Tk 1,934,698,750) by the end of 2015 which will help meet import expenditure from six to 7 months. The central bank governor also said after the inauguration of Padma Multipurpose Bridge, Munshiganj will be the country’s largest economic zone, according to a news agency.
