The country has a good potential to earn foreign currency by exporting pigeon, said Fisheries and Livestock Minister Abdul Latif Biswas, reports BSS.
The government would extend all support in this regard, he said, while inaugurating a two-day pigeon fair that began Thursday at Jatiya Press Club.
Bangladesh Fancy Pigeon Breeders' Associa-tion (BFPBA) organised the fair.
BFPBA General Secre-tary Koreshi M Tanvir Hasan, vice presidents Manjil Hossain, Saber Abdullah and treasurer Amitabh Ghosh, among others, spoke at the function chaired by the chief of the organisation Mahfuzul Alam Bachchu.
A total of 120 species of pigeon were put on display in the fair. Abdul Latif said the government has taken various steps to conserve forest resources and save the wild animals from poachers.
