Bangladesh to take part in Junior Asia Cup Hockey

Bangladesh Under-21 Hockey team will leave for India on July 7 to take part in the 6th Men's Junior Asia Cup Hockey to be held July 11 to July 18 in Hyderabad with a hope of holding the 6th place in the eight-team tournament, reports UNB.
The weeklong residential camp of Bangladesh Under-21 team, consists of nine national juniors and seven BKSP players, began Tuesday morning at BKSP in Savar under the supervision of coach Mohammad Nurul Islam.
"Our target is to hold the 6th place in the eight-team meet," Hockey Federation General Secretary Sajed Adel told the news agency.
"We have made an appeal to our media partner Dhaka Bank to sponsor the tour, but yet to get any response from them," he added.
If the bank does not respond, Bangladesh Hockey Federation and BKSP will jointly bear the expenditure of the tour, informed Sajed.
Eight teams, split into two groups, will take part in the eight-day meet.
Group A comprises hosts India, Japan, Malaysia and Singapore while the Group B consists of Pakistan, Oman, South Korea and Bangladesh.
Bangladesh, which was placed 6th in the last meet, will play their first match against South Korea on July 11, the 2nd match against Oman on July 13 and the 3rd match against Pakistan on July 14.
Bangladesh team comprises 16 players and five officials.
Team: Players - Mehrab Hossain Kiron, Manwar Hossain, Shamsul Alam Sujon, Moshiur Rahman, Irfanul Haque, Rimon Kumar Ghosh, Abdus Sajjad John, Moshiur Rahman Biplob, Labu Nahid, Asaduzzaman Chondon, Sheikh Mohammad Nannu, Hasan Jubair, Iqbal Nadir, Krishna Kumar, Russell Mahmud Jimmy and Taposh Barman.
Officials : Manager -Kazi Mainuzzaman Pila, Assistant Manager - Yousuf Ali, Coach - Mohammad Nurul Islam, Judge- Ehtesham Sultan and Umpire-Mahbubul Haque.
