Bangladesh U-19 beat Australia U-19

Captain Mahmudul Hasan led from the front with an unbeaten 75 as Bangladesh Under-19 team marched on to beat Australia under-19 by 20 runs in a practice match at the Elmwood Park, Christchurch in New Zealand Tuesday, reports BSS.
This was an official practice match in their preparation for the ICC U-19 Cricket World Cup tourney scheduled to be held in New Zealand from January 15.
Skipper Mahmudul won the toss and elected to bat first in the match that started late due to poor light.
Bangladesh scored a decent total of 230 runs for 7 wickets in stipulated 39 overs.
Mahmudul Hasan was in spectacular form as he notched unbeaten 75 runs off 65 balls studded with five fours and two sixes. Earlier Saikat Ali set the tempo with a majestic 61 runs off 75 balls with three fours and two sixes.
Opener Anamul Haque also was the other successful Bangladesh batsman with the willow with a breezy 58 runs off 50 balls with three fours and three sixes.
Alex Keath, Jackson Coleman and Kane Richardson bagged two wickets each conceding 26, 38 and 46 runs respectively.
In reply, Australia U-19 team was all out for 210 in 38.4 overs.
Jason Floros top scored 46 runs off 52 balls with four fours and a six. Tim Armstrong followed him with 41 off 62 runs.
Later Kane Richardson with 28 not out and Ben Dougal 26 saw their efforts go in vain as Australia fell 20 runs short of the target.
Kamrul Islam and Hasan Raju claimed two wickets each conceding 15 and 41 runs respectively.
Bangladesh are placed in Group D of the Youth World Cup with Pakistan, West Indies and Papua New Guinea.
Junior Tigers will play their first match against Papua New Guinea on January 16 at the Fitzherbert Park in Palmerston North, second match against West Indies on January 17 and the third match against Pakistan on January 20 at the same venue.
