Bangladesh wins toss, bowls first in 1st test against West Indies

ST. VINCENT: Bangladesh captain Mushfiqur Rahim won the toss and chose to bowl first against the West Indies in the first cricket test at the Arnos Vale Sports Complex  Friday, according to a news agency.
Bangladesh gave debuts to left-arm spinner Taijul Islam and allrounder Shuvagata Hom. The touring team omitted Anamul Haque, Robiul Islam, Shafiul Islam and Elias Sunny from its squad of 15.
The West Indies chose six batsmen in its final 11 with fast bowling allrounder Jason Holder and offspinner Shane Shillingford left out.
Veteran Shivnarine Chanderpaul, who turned 40 on Aug. 16, became the ninth West Indian to play test cricket as a 40-year-old.
