Bangladesh-Zimbabwe last ODI match today
Monday, 1 December 2014
Sitting on a 4-0 lead, Bangladesh might take their foot off the pedal yet the prospect of a whitewash looms large when they take on Zimbabwe in the 5th and last match of the Bashundhara Cement ODI Series at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) today (Monday), reports UNB.
Ahead of the last match, Bangladesh and Zimbabwe appeared in their practice session at the SBNCS Sunday.
Soumya Sarkar would possibly bat in the lower middle-order and be picked as a third seamer. Mominul Haque may also be drafted back in to replace Imrul Kayes.
On the other side, the visitors could make quite a few changes in the squad as Richmond Mutumbami and Craig Ervine had not played a single match. Elton Chigumbura has said Sikandar Raza's injured finger has improved while Timycen Maruma and Peter Moor are also struggling for fitness.
Bangladesh is now 17 rating points ahead of Zimbabwe in the ICC's ODI rankings and if they can whitewash the touring side the difference will jump up to 22 points.
On their way to 4-0 lead, Tigers beat Zimbabwe by 21 runs in the fourth match on November 28 and by a massive 124 runs in the third match on November 26 at SBNCS, Mirpur. Earlier they won by 68 runs in the second match on November 23 and won the first match by 87 runs -- the first ODI victory for home side in 2014 -- at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong on November 21.
Bangladesh squad (possible): Tamim Iqbal, Anamul Haque, Imrul Kayes/Mominul Haque, Mushfiqur Rahim , Shakib Al Hasan, Mahmudullah, Sabbir Rahman, Soumya Sarkar, Mashrafe Mortaza (captain), Rubel Hossain, and Jubair Hossain.
