Bangladeshi elected councillor in Oxford local govt polls

Farida Anwar, a Bangladeshi-born British citizen, has been elected a councillor in Oxford local government polls in the United Kingdom, reports UNB.
A Labour Party nominee, Farida, was earlier selected by the local government in Oxford to contest the election from Headington, according to a message received on Monday.
Farida Anwar, daughter of former civil servant Shah Muhammad Israil Haq of Faridpur district, settled in the UK in 1965 and held senior positions in British Civil Service.
