Bangladeshi gunned down by BSF

A Bangladeshi young man was shot to death by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) personnel at Mujibnagar Upazila in Meherpur district on Friday night. The dead is Abdul Khalek, 30, a cattle trader and son of Dhulu Mallik of Sonapur Majhpara village of the upazila. Border Guard Bangladesh sources said the BSF troops from Sutia 119 camp in Nadia district of India’s West Bengal state opened fire on a group of cattle traders when Khalek along with others went to Sonapur Majhpara border point near main pillar no 107 for bringing cattle around 11:30pm, leaving him critically injured. He was rescued and rushed to Meherpur General Hospital where doctors declared him dead. BGB Chuadanga-6 Battalion CO Major Anwar Jahid said a letter has been sent to BSF protesting the incident and a flag meeting will be held this (Saturday) afternoon, according to a news agency.
