Bangladeshi judges become PCA members

Justice Md Tofazzal Hossain and Justice Md Awlad Ali have become members of Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) in The Hague, Netherlands, reports BSS.
This is the first time that judges from Bangladesh have become members of this esteemed international organisation. "This appointment is the reflection of Bangladesh's continuous efforts to establish world peace through close involvement with legal organisations based in The Hague," an official release said in Dhaka Sunday.
Justice Hossain is the former chief justice and Justice Ali is a former judge of the High Court Division.
Justice Hossain was the main architect behind cancellation of the fifth amendment to the Constitution and upholding the High Court order sentencing the killers of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The PCA is an intergovernmental organisation with 117 member states. Established in 1899 the PCA provides services for the resolution of disputes involving various combinations of states, state entities, intergovernmental organisations, and private parties.
