Bangladeshi social scientist honoured in USA

A Bangladeshi social scientist Mizanur R Miah, director of the School of Social Work (SSW) at Southern Illinois University Carbondale (SIUC), was honoured recently in Washington DC by the Council on Social Work Education for his outstanding services on its Commission on Accreditation (COA) for the last three years.
Dr Mizan, who joined the SIUC faculty in 1985, shepherded the university's social work programmes through latest accreditational review, a process that began shortly after his assumption of the office of SSW director in 2002. The school's current accreditation runs through June 2010.
He also plays key roles in many professional organisations in the USA. He is currently serving the International Task Force and Child Welfare Task Force of the National Association of Deans and Directors of Schools of Social Work, USA, and undertakes professional consulting for two UN agencies.
