Monday, 8 December 2014

The Bangladeshi female student, who was allegedly raped by a research scholar at Visva-Bharati University at Santiniketan in India’s West Bengal, is leaving the institution.
A BBC Bangla report Sunday said the student would be leaving Santiniketan for Bangladesh with her father Monday.
According to the report, the student’s father arrived at Visva-Bharati Friday and went to police with the principal Sunday.
The student lodged complaints against the rapist who is also a Bangladeshi.
Quoting the complaints, the BBC Bangla report said the research scholar repeatedly raped her for the last few months by threatening to upload her ‘objectionable photographs’ on the internet.
It said the accused was known to the young woman, being her local guardian.
Police already arrested him and Visva-Bharati authorities expelled him over the allegations.
Law enforcers also seized his mobile phone, laptop and flash drive, according to a news agency.
