An agriculture fair - Banglalink Agro Bangladesh 2010 - will begin in Dhaka from October 5 to introduce the latest agricultural technology to the people involved in the sector.
The main objective of the agro fair is to familiarise the businessmen and the stakeholders of the agricultural sector with new agricultural technology and practices, the organisers said in a statement on Saturday.
Two ministries - agriculture ministry and livestock and fisheries ministry - are jointly organising the fair in association with Banglalink.
The announcement of the fair came in a press conference held at city's Spectra Convention Centre.
Chief Commercial Officer of Banglalink Asher Yakub Khan, marketing director of Banglalink Shihab Ahmad, head of SME of City Bank Badrudduza Choudhury, managing director of E3 Solution Chanmohan Saha spoke, among others.
Some 100 organisations will showcase agricultural wares in 150 stalls at the fair which will take place at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre.
Agri-tech makers from Bangladesh, India, Vietnam, Thailand, Taiwan, China, Germany, Singapore, Japan, Netherlands, Egypt, Uk and Korea will participate in the fair, which is expected to be inaugurated by Agricultural Minister Matia Chowdhury.
Fisheries and Livestock Minister Abdul Latif Biswas is likely to be present as the chief guest on the concluding day of the fair on October 7.
Extreme Exhibition, Event Solution Ltd and Station Communications will arrange the fair while Channel I is the media partner of the fair.
The fair will be open to all everyday from 10:00 am till 8:00 pm.
