Banglalink's revenue growth continues

Orascom Telecom Holding (OTH), the holding company of Banglalink recently announced its third quarter financial results for 2008. During the third quarter, Banglalink crossed the 10 million (1 crore) subscriber mark and ended the quarter (as of September 2008) with over 10.14 million (1.014 crore) subscribers and a market share of 22.5 per cent, says a press release.
Subscriber growth was the highest in the industry with an increase in of 7 per cent compared to the previous quarter and 68 per cent increase compared to the same period of last year.
Banglalink's revenue during this quarter was Tk 5.24 billion (524 crore), a 19 per cent increase compared to the previous quarter and total revenue till date for this year is 56 per cent higher compared to the same period of last year.
While other major players in the market have been experiencing stagnant revenues and declining ARPUs over the past few quarters, Banglalink's ARPU increased by 8 per cent compared to the previous quarter.
Commenting on the recent performance, the CEO of Banglalink Rashid Khan reiterated, "The resolve of Banglalink to create the best value proposition for its customers will continue in the years to come. Our infrastructure and network enhancement plans along with the resulting growth are a testament to this resolve".
