Bank Asia chair, vice-chair re-elected

Mr. A Rouf Chowdhury was re-elected Chairman of Bank Asia at a meeting of the Board of Directors of the Bank held recently. He is the main promoter of Bank Asia, said a statement.
Mr. Chowdhury is an eminent businessman and industrialist of the country. He is the Chairman of Rangs Group and Sea Resources Group. Mr. Chowdhury was the President of Basket Ball Association for four years. He has been a member of Executive Committee for Kurmitola Golf Club for over 20 years. Mr. Chowdhury has been actively associated with many social activities.
Meanwhile, Mr. Mohd Safwan Choudhury and Mr. A.M. Nurul Islam Anu have been re-elected Vice Chairmen of Bank Asia at the same meeting of the Board of Directors of the Bank.
Vice Chairman Mr. Mohd Safwan Choudhury is an eminent industrialist of the country. Former President of Sylhet Chamber of Commerce & Industries, Mr. Choudhury is the Managing Director of M. Ahmed Tea & Lands Co. Ltd, Phulbaria Tea Estates Ltd., M Ahmed Cold Storage Ltd., Premier Dyeing & Calendering Ltd. and M. Ahmed Food & Spices Ltd. He is the Chairman of Bangladesh Tea Association and President of Friends in Village Development Bangladesh (FIVDB), an NGO providing education to the under-privileged children.
Vice Chairman Mr. A.M. Nurul Islam Anu is also Chairman of Board Risk Management Committee. He was a former teacher of the University of Dhaka and former CSP is a well-known in the administrative and political circle of Bangladesh. He has extensive experience on national administrative and international development financing issues. In Bangladesh Government, he held important assignments, including private secretary to Prime Minister Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Joint Secretary to the President of Bangladesh, to mention a few. He had extensive exposure on international development financing issues while working as an economic diplomat in the Washington D.C. He was Director of National Bank Ltd. since 2003 and acted as Chairman of its Audit Committee of the Bank. Subsequently he joined Bank Asia and acted as a Chairman of the Bank's Audit Committee for three years. At present he heads the Risk Management Committee of Bank Asia. He is working as Financial Advisor of Opex Group. Mr. Nurul Islam Anu is a well-known columnist and contributes extensively in national dailies.
