Bank Asia for tapping unofficial remittance

Bank Asia Limited organised a road-show from Sylhet to Cox's Bazar recently with a view to creating awareness on sending remittance in legal way shunning the illegal practice.
In this connection an inaugural function was organised in the city on the day.
President and Managing Director of the bank Erfanuddin Ahmed inaugurated the show, said a press release.
Head of Remittance of the bank Syed Nazimuddin presided over the function.
Among others, Syed Mohammad Kamal of Western Union and Sirajul Islam of BURO Bangladesh addressed the function. Akmol Hossain moderated the function.
Bank Asia and Western Union has been distributing remittance jointly through the bank's branches and using channels of aligned NGOs for the last one year and four months.
Addressing the function, the speakers expressed the hope that the road-show would help tap the unofficial remittance and increase its (remittance) inflow in the days to come.
It would also contribute in augmenting revenue into the national exchequer and add value to the national growth, they observed, the release added.
