Bank Asia gets 'Bracken Award'

Bank Asia Ltd won the globally renowned and prestigious 'Bracken Award' as the best bank of the year 2007 in Bangladesh recently.
The London-based Financial Times and The Banker Magazine give "The Banker Award" every year to recognise the success and financial achievements of the world's top financial institutions (FIs).
This year's 'The Banker Award 2007' programme was held at the Dorchester Hotel in London on November 28.
A total of 457 banks from 143 countries participated in this competition. Of them, 155 banks won the award.
President and Managing Director of the bank Syed Anisul Huq attended the award-giving ceremony and received the award on behalf of the bank.
The award is given to the world's leading FIs through a hard contest. This year's questionnaires comprised information regarding growth and performance measures for 2006, 2005 and 2004, initiatives taken by the bank to improve shareholders' return, particular actions regarding merger, major technology investment or customer initiative provided by the bank with significant success or market advantages over the past 12-15 months.
Since its inception, Bank Asia has been growing with operating excellence. The bank acquired local operations of two foreign banks-Bank of Nova Scotia of Canada and MCB of Pakistan.
