Bank Asia MD gets Mahatma Gandhi Peace award

Bank Asia Limited President and Managing Director Syed Anisul Huq was conferred 'Mahatma Gandhi Peace Award- 2008' for his life-long contribution to banking sector and philanthropic activities for promoting peace and harmony in the society.
Truth and Accountability Commission Chairman Justice Habibur Rahman Khan handed over the peace award to Syed Anisul Huq at a ceremony organised by the Mahatma Gandhi Gobeshona Porishod at the Bangladesh China Friendship Conference Centre in the city recently.
Huq started his career in 1966 in the then Habib Bank Limited, later on the Agrani Bank Limited, AB Bank Limited and Southeast Bank Limited in different capacities.
He joined the Bank Asia Limited in 2000 as Managing Director, ensured transparency and accountability in the bank, and introduced various CSR activities that include 'treatment of the born-blind children in Bangladesh' and 'higher education scholarship for brilliant students'.
