Banker killed in Gopalganj road crash

An official of a private bank was killed and five other people were injured in a road accident at Gerakhola on Dhaka-Khulna highway in Maksudpur upazila on Monday morning. The deceased was identified as Ehsanul Kabir, 65, vice-president of United Commercial Bank and son of late Korban Ali of Syamoli Ring Road in Dhaka. Police said the private car, carrying six people, was hit by a bus from behind and then collided head-on with a truck coming from the opposite direction, leaving Ehsanul Kabir dead on the spot and five people injured at about 5:30 am. The injured included Kabir’s wife Rashida Kabir, their daughter Brishti, son Alvi, their daughter’s sister-in-law and the driver. Police said Ehsanul Kabir and his family members were going to Gopalganj hearing the death news of one of their relatives. The injured were rushed to Gopalganj General Hospital, according to a news agency.
