I operate a savings account at Agrani Bank. This is an account I opened during Pakistan time at Habib Bank in 1962. All of a sudden, I was informed that I cannot operate the account as nobody introduced me while opening the same more than 40 (forty) years ago. However I could manage someone to introduce me for the purpose.
Two years ago I found out that the newly introduced cheque books do not contain a requisition slip for drawing a new cheque book. I had to make a general diary (GD) at Ramna P.S. and get relevant papers for the job. But on Bank's instruction, I had to have a fresh introduction from another account holder of the bank. I opened two savings accounts in the name of my son and daughter 40 (forty) years ago. They are now grown up and I still deposit money to their accounts at times. But the bank authority is now reluctant to inform me of the balances in those accounts. I fail to understand why the Bank authority is reluctant to do so. When all kinds of information leaked out every now and then, I cannot get the information on those accounts although the accounts were opened by me. I feel there is no harm in doing so as annual statements are mailed by courier services.
