Banks' donations for flood-hit people

Janata Bank: Janata Bank decided Tuesday to donate its employees' one day's salary amounting to Tk 4.0 million (40 lakh) for the flood-affected people of the country.
A cheque of Tk 4.0 million will be credited to the Chief Adviser's Relief Fund for the flood-affected people.
A current account 'Jamuna Bank Flood Aid-2007' will also be opened at the bank's branch offices. The bank employees and clients will be able to deposit their donated amounts to the aid account willingly. The donated amount will be deposited through crossed cheque.
Chairman and directors of the bank have also decided to deposit their honorarium for helping the flood-hit people.
Prime Bank: Prime Bank has decided to participate in the emergency relief operation with an intention to minimise the sufferings of flood-hit people as part of its corporate social responsibility.
The bank has approved an amount of Tk 10 million for the purpose. The relief operation will be concentrated in worst-hit areas including Manikganj, Munshiganj, Netrokona, Jamalpur, Mymensingh, Rajbari, Shariatpur, Gaibandha and Kurigram.
BKB: Officials and staff of Bangladesh Krishi Bank (BKB) spontaneously donated their one-day's salary to the Chief Adviser's Relief Fund for the flood victims.
BKB Chairman SA Chowdhury and Managing Director M Fazlul Hoque handed over a cheque of Tk 2.5 million to Chief Adviser Fakhruddin Ahmed at the latter's office in the city Tuesday.
Jamuna Bank: Jamuna Bank has approved Tk 5.0 million as donation to Chief Adviser's Flood Relief Fund for the flood-ravaged people of the country.
This was disclosed at the 86th emergency board meeting of the bank at its head office Monday.
Chairman of the bank Nur Mohammed presided over the meeting. Also present, among others, on the occasion were JBL Vice Chairman Md Sirazul Islam Bharasa, Executive Committee Chairman Fazlur Rahman and Audit Committee Chairman AKM Musharraf Hussain, MD Mohammed Lakiotullah, AMD Md Motiur Rahman and Chairman of Board of Trustee of JBL Employees' Provident Fund Md Tazul Islam and Company Secretary Md Anwar Hossain.
