Banks get 180 days to settle any ATM card dispute

The central bank has asked commercial banks to settle any dispute over transactions through ATM (automated teller machine) cards within 180 days. The Bangladesh Bank (BB) advised the banks concerned in a circular to follow the procedure as stated in the guideline relating to National Payment Switch Bangladesh (NPSB) in settling any dispute. It says the timeline of 180 days is the maximum number of days the entire process can take. The guideline titled "NPSB Switch Operating Rules & User Manual: Dispute Management Rules" shall come into effect immediately, a Bangladesh Bank circular dated May 14 said.
