Selective branches open today

FE Report | Friday, 29 April 2022

The Bangladesh Bank (BB) on Thursday asked the commercial banks to keep their branches across the country open for a limited time on April 30 (Saturday), a public holiday, to facilitate transactions ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.
The decision came on the backdrop of increased financial transactions led by rise of trade and business in the festival season, according to a BB circular.
Clients will be able to execute transactions from 9.30am to 1:00pm on the day, after which the bankers will have to complete their relevant work by 2.30pm.
Besides, the central bank asked the banks to keep some selective branches open from 9.30am and 12.30pm today (Friday) to facilitate payment of salaries, wages and festival allowances to the garment workers.
The bank branches located in Dhaka metropolitan area, Ashulia, Savar, Tongi, Gazipur, Bhaluka, Narayanganj and Chattogram will remain open as per the directive.
The relevant BB departments will also remain open on a limited scale during these days to facilitate transactions.
Eid-ul-Fitr, the largest religious festival of the Muslims, is scheduled to be observed either on May 02 or 03 depending on sighting of the moon.
