Banned party leader held

Detectives arrested a regional leader of an outlawed outfit from the bank of Rupsha River, adjacent to Rupsha Railway Station, in Khulna district on Monday. Police identified the arrested as Ibrahim Sheikh, 42, son of Md Abul Sheikh, a resident of Ramnagar village in Rupsha Upazila, and a leader of outlawed Purba Banglar Communist Party (PBCP) of Janajuddha faction (ML-Janajuddha). Officer-in-Charge of Detective Branch of Police TM Rokonuzzaman said, a team of detectives raided the area and arrested Ibrahim Sheikh while he was engaged in a secret meeting with his party men. After his confessional statement, police recovered a pistol, a magazine and one round of bullet from one Mizanur’s residence in the same village, according to a news agency.
