Banshkhali power plant now shut on coal shortage

The 1320 MW Banshkhali power plant of S Alam Group was completely shut down from Thursday midnight following a coal shortage.
Previously, the power plant started generating around 500 mw of electricity on a test-run on June 5, informed sources said.
The power plant was shut amid the prevailing power crisis, they said adding it would deepen further the power supply situation.
Just five days back, a 1,320MW coal-fired Payra Power Plant in Patuakhali was shut temporarily due to shortage of coal.
