Bar Council urges lawyers to stand beside the flood victims

Bangladesh Bar Council has urged the country's lawyers to stand beside the flood victims, reports UNB.
The call was made from an emergency meeting of the Bar Council on Tuesday to face the prevailing flood situation.
Attorney General and ex-officio Chairman of Bar Council Fida M Kamal, Vice Chairman Khandaker Mahbub Hossain, Executive Committee Chairman Shafiq Ahmed, Finance Committee Chairman Abdul Baset Majumder, Human Rights and Legal Committee Chairman Mansurul Huq Chowdhury, House Committee Chairman A Y Mashihuzzaman, Relief Committee Chairman Fakir Delwar Hossain, among others, attended the meeting.
The meeting decided to allocate Tk 2 million from the special relief fund of the Bar Council for helping the flood-hit people.
Of the amount, Tk 1.00 million will be given to the Chief Adviser's relief fund while food items worth Tk 0.50 million will be distributed among the flood victims and the rest amount will be given to the flood-affected lawyers and members of the Bar Council.
