Barguna college student gang raped

Five men allegedly took turn to rape a student of Barguna Public Women’s College in Monsatali village in Barguna Sadar Upazila on Wednesday. The five were named in a case the victim filed in the evening immediately after the incident. Police arrested three of the accused, including the victim’s supposed friend, a few hours later. The arrested were produced in Barguna court on Thursday afternoon and remanded in jail custody. They are ‘Jihad’ of Lemua village, Khalilur Rahman of Lakurtala village and ‘Dipankar’ of Ghatbaria village, said OC of Barguna police station Shamsul Haque. The two other accused – Sanad Ray and Monotosh – are absconding. Police said the student was having an affair with Jihad for about a month. On Wednesday evening, Jihad took her to an abandoned building in the village and violated her. The others took turn to rape her. The victim’s golden necklace and earrings had also alleged been stolen by the rapists, according to a news agency.
