BARI holds field day programme

Bangladesh's domestic fruit production can be increased through proper management of fruit trees which will reduce the country's dependence on import of the same, said Dr Debasish Sarker, Director General of Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute BARI.
He was addressing as the chief guest a field day programme, styled 'Integrated Coconut Crop Management' at the fruit research field of BARI in Gazipur on Wednesday, says a statement.
Pomology Division of BARI's Horticultural Research Center organised the programme, presided over by the Horticultural Research Center's Director Dr Mossammat Samsunnahar. Director (Planning and Evaluation) Dr Apurba Kanti Chowdhury and Director (ORC) Dr Md Abdul Latif Akand were present as special guests.
The programme was funded by BARI's NATP Phase-II, PIU, Farmgate, Dhaka's project titled "Development of Integrated Crop Management Technologies for Higher Production of Coconut in Bangladesh".
Project Coordinator and Chief Scientific Officer of the Pomology Division Dr Babul Chandra Sarker delivered the welcome speech and Principal Investigator of the project and Pomology Division's Principal Scientific Officer Dr Md Jillur Rahman highlighted the details of the technology.
