Barisal-5 by-polls RO changed

The Election Commission (EC) on Wednesday changed the retuning officer (RO) of Barisal-5 by-polls slated for June 12. Instead of Barisal regional election officer Mir Md Shahjahan, Deputy Commissioner of Barisal Shahidul Alam will act as the returning officer of the by-polls as per a ‘corrigendum notice’ issued by the EC. The notice signed by EC acting Secretary Sirazul Islam said the words 'regional election officer, Barisal' would be replaced by 'deputy commissioner, Barisal'. The notice was also posted on the EC website, according to a news agency.
