Barisal Jamaat chief arrested

Police in a drive arrested the chief of Barisal unit of Jamaat-e-Islami early Wednesday. A team of Kotwali Police Station conducted a drive in Barisal city’s Ground Compound area after Tuesday midnight and arrested Barisal Jamaat Ameer Moajjem Hossain Helal from his city residence early Wednesday. Police said he was arrested as he was accused in several violence related cases. However, locals said he was picked up by police for fear of plotting anarchy ahead of the appeal verdict of Jamaat Nayeb-e-Ameer Delwar Hossain Sayedee for war crimes, according to private TV channels.
